Five years ago IE was clearly the winner in the browser war and sites were developed to work with IE, nothing else. Inside the firewall, sites too were built for IE only, this made it much cheaper. I wonder how much investement is tied up by this decision, and how much momentum this has created behind IE within organisations. Security has been a problem, as has some of IE’s most obvious flaws (like the printing thing!), but then Firefox hasn’t been plain sailing either. I guess there are many of us just hoping Microsoft can get us a patch before we get done by this latest vulnerability. Roll on IE7!
